What to Expect

The goal of a student’s time at Miracle Lake is to show him an alternative to the drug and alcohol lifestyle. We structure each day to include classroom training, individual Bible study, group therapy, supervised work therapy, and recreational therapy.

The following is a list of items a student should bring with him when he comes to stay at Miracle Lake:

  • Alarm Clock (no radio or CD clocks)
  • Wrist watch
  • Work clothes
  • Dress pants
  • Dress shirt (collard shirt)
  • Work boots or work tennis shoes
  • Dress shoes
  • Coats (winter time)
  • Small flash light (winter time)
  • Cap or toboggan (winter time)
  • Work gloves
  • Clear water bottle
  • Toiletries (i.e., razors, shaving cream, deodorant, toothbrush & toothpaste, shampoo, etc.)
  • Umbrella or raincoat
  • Stamps | envelopes | pens | note pad or loose leaf paper
  • Towels & washcloths
  • Laundry basket & coat hangers (laundry detergent provided)
  • Bible (any version is acceptable)
  • Fishing pole/fishing tackle (optional)

PLEASE NOTE:
Students are appropriated one wash-day per week. Therefore, the student should bring with him at least one week’s supply of clothing.

Visitation

No visitation allowed during the first two weeks. Visitation starts on Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m and is for family members only unless approved by staff prior of visitation. All visitors must arrive by 11 a.m to be checked in.

Summer & Winter Schedule

5:15 a.m. – Out of bed and dressed for work, Monday–Friday 6:00 a.m. – Wake up and Get up. Make bed and straighten up living area.

5:45 a.m. – Breakfast 6:30 a.m. – Breakfast (Everyone comes to the table.)

6:25 a.m. – All chores cease (including kitchen) and head for room 7:25 a.m. – In your room preparing for devotion
6:30 a.m. – Personal devotion 7:30–8:00 a.m. – Personal devotion

7:00 a.m. – End of personal devotion 8:05 a.m. – Leave building for class (Monday thru Friday)
(8:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday) (Leave building for breakfast on Saturday and Sunday)
7:05 a.m. – Leave quarters 8:15–10:30 a.m. – Bible class (Monday thru Friday)
(8:05 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday) 10:30-11:45 A.M. Individual counseling or Free Time (Monday–Friday)
7:15 a.m. – Report to shop for work 12:00 p.m. Lunch
7:30 a.m. – Work begins 1:00–5:00 p.m. Work assignments (Monday–Friday)
9:00–9:15 a.m. – Break (3:00-3:15 p.m. – Work break)
11:30 a.m. – Leave work site to put up tools 5:00 p.m. – Clean up area and put away your tools
12:00 p.m. – Lunch 5:30 p.m – Supper (Monday-Saturday) (Mail given out at supper.)
2:00–4:00 p.m. – Class (5:00 p.m. on Sunday)
5:30 p.m. – Supper 8:00 p.m. – In your cabins
(5:00 p.m. – Sunday) 8:00–8:30 p.m. Group devotions (Monday and Tuesday only)
8:00 p.m. – In cabins for group devotions (Monday and Tuesday only) 9:15 p.m. – Quiet time begins (Must be in your room, No talking. No showers. No movements that disturb because some may choose to sleep at this time.)
8:30 p.m. – Quiet time begins and goes till 5:15 a.m. (Must be in your room, No talking. No showers. No movements that disturb because some may choose to sleep at this time.) (Ends at 6:00 a.m / On Weekends at 7:00 a.m.)
9:30 p.m. Lights out (On Friday And Saturday, Lights out at 10:00 p.m.) 10:00 p.m. Lights out

Chapel Services: 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday and Saturday

Thursday Group Therapy: 6:30 p.m. in chapel or 6:00 p.m. in bus if recreation night.
